As you all know we lost a Legend when Whitney Houston passed away. Her death was just as big as MJ's in my opinion because unlike MJ, I felt like I knew Whitney personally. We all have great memories of Whitney. This was just a small way to honor the woman that touched so many people around the world with her amazing voice and talent.

Soul Train’s legendary creator and host Don Cornelius was found dead -- in what could be a case of suicide."Soul Train" began in 1970 in Chicago and aired in syndication from 1971 to March 2006, featuring primarily African-American musicians. It brought the best R&B, soul and later hip-hop acts to TV and had teenagers dance to them. It was one of the first shows to showcase African-Americans prominently, although the dance group was racially mixed.
Cornelius was the first host and executive producer. As the smooth-talking host with a deep voice, Cornelius gave to hip young kids of the '70s what 'American Bandstand' creator Dick Clark offered to viewers in the early days of rock 'n' roll.
For more than two decades, Cornelius played a critical role in spreading African-American music to the world. He was also instrumental in introducing hundreds of stars to mainstream TV audiences, including Aretha Franklin, Gladys Knight, James Brown and Michael Jackson. Cornelius invited the nation to a multicultural, cross-generational dance party that was broadcast into living rooms every Saturday morning.

This Weekend (Jan. 20th) is the opening of

RED TAILS

Movie studio executives turned down the chance to distribute George Lucas' new movie "Red Tails" because they didn't think the big-budget epic about the heroic African-American Tuskegee Airmen would be a hit overseas.

Lucas spent 23 years planning the period film, which he financed himself, but when it came time to put the movie out, he had trouble finding a major studio that would support him. He explained on Monday's "The Daily Show," "I figured I could get the prints and ads paid for by the studios and that they would release it, and I showed it to all of them and they said, 'No, we don't know how to market a movie like this."

"It's an all-black movie. There's no major white roles in it at all," Lucas added. "It's one of the first all-black action pictures ever made. ... It's a reasonably expensive movie ... and they don't believe there's any foreign market for it, and that's 60 percent of their profit."

Lucas eventually partnered with 20th Century Fox to release the film, which he hopes will be a big hit. He said, "I wanted to make it inspirational for teenage boys. I wanted to show that they have heroes; they're real American heroes, they're patriots, they helped make the country what it is today. ... If we get a good first weekend, there is a prequel and a sequel, and they're better than this movie by a long shot."

The movie is intriguing and has edge-of-your-seat action. It's well done, and certainly worth seeing.
Large numbers of viewers in the first few days of release(scheduled for Jan. 20th) will make a statement to the production and distribution companies that WE ARE interested in SEEING this film, AND, that they made a miscalculation.
If each of you tell as many people about this as you can, and attempt to take 4 or 5 people with you to see the film, that will be like a geometric progression, and could potentially push the numbers off the chart.
And . . . George can get his money back!

My son's Great Grandfather was a Tuskegee Airman, so I'm proud to push this film...
